Yes there comes a point in every newbie's life when they start to feel comfortable and realize that they need to take that right of passage and update their profile with a picture :)

Lol but on a serious note unfortunately your profile pic is like a passport photo... tiny... 256 x 256 pixels tiny.
But you have this great picture! and it's big! and it looks horrible when SL tries to squeeze it into a passport photo! So what's a girl to do? Photoshop! je je je je je

Too close to home
I was reflecting on my experience on SL thus far and a scary scary thought popped into my mind... Seriously I gotta stop relaxing on comfy bean bags they make me think about stuff... ;p
The whole point of the game that is SL is to live vicariously through your avatar the life you would have wanted had you had omniscient powers. So in other words like the personality you would have had if you had choices. But the scary thing I realized is that even though Luna is more brave, outgoing, and trusting than I am in RL she still is a reflection of my true self.
Ahhh so scary...
Because the game has taken away some fears it's like my true inner self has come out into Luna! And that she has not detoured from the original! For example, at work I am surrounded by men because in my profession there aren't that many women usually 2 or 3 among 8 to 15 men. So I have gotten used to being one of the guys. I have to so that I will be treated equally and not patronized for being of the weaker sex. Therefore I have a lot of guy friends and not too many girl friends. And believe it or not Luna is the same. She get's along with guys easily but with girls it's harder so I am making it a point to step out of our comfort zone and join girl world again!
Did I mention I love to dance?
It all started with that first dance... the first euphoric moment you realize the magic of Second Life. That you are a phenomenal dancer!
In real life aka RL I was a competitive dancer belonging to a small company that was like a family to me. Unfortunately, the universe throws a couple of hard balls at you and because of an injury that took a year to heal I had to find something else to do :(
So I had to say good bye to friends I have been dancing with since I was 2 years old and continue living life with open arms :)
In case I didn't mention it I was trained in ballet, jazz, tap, modern, and hip hop and because I'm Spanish I know a little merengue, and salsa but just a little you know stuff you pick up at parties.
Since I live in NYC I've tried taking ballroom classes but unfortunately since I was a dancer I pick things up quickly which turns on this psychotic look in instructors eyes and all of a sudden I'm put in the center of the room. I'm pushed harder sent from beginner's to intermediate within a week until it's not fun anymore and I must run run away!
But my love of all types of music never left me and neither did dance!
That's what I love about SL the pressure is off! Everyone is a great dancer! I rediscovered my love of swing thanks to Poseidon's Adventure...

Oh and did I mention that I was a shortie in RL? Ya I'm 5'3" and proud of it! But I always wanted to know what it would be like being one of the tall ones so I made Luna 6'1" lol ;p
But now I'm thinking that maybe that was a little too tall? Oh well... C'est La Vie!
Time to change appearance
I was sipping a piña colada when I started to think... am I completely satisfied with the way I look?
So I went to a magic mirror to check myself out...

Lol but I am missing a certain je ne sais quoi. So after much debate with myself I decided to have a last campfire before I say good bye to old Luna...
and hello to new sexy improved luna ;p
Yes the plastic surgeon worked long hours on me but it was worth it I can finally relax in the sun and enjoy my new body :)
But something was still bothering me... I couldn't completely relax even though I was sitting in a very comfortable chair.
I think I need to get a hair stylist?...
But as Scarlet O'Hara put it: tomorrow is another day :)
Newbie Firsts

Luna Myanamotu is born!
Okay I learned about Second Life from an anime I am currently watching... well when I get a chance to watch it that is. For the past couple of years I have been a hardcore Asian drama watcher so it's been a while since I've last checked out anime. Anyway if you are curious the title of the anime is Maria-sama ga Miteru 4th season, ya I didn't know there was even a 3rd season ;p
Anyway I learned from the subtitler's website that on Second Life someone made a replica of the Lillian Academy that's what got my curiosity and why i decided to try SL out. I've heard about SL before but never had an incentive to go in until now :)
So unlike Sims, SL is free another bonus and when you sign up bam! you have to pick a name that you will be stuck with for the rest of your SL life. Oh the pressure of a name... should I use my screen name...? is it too cold...? should I pick something more feminine...? So badda bum I picked Luna lol I know how original and SL gives you a list of last names so I got stuck with Myanamotu because well didn't like the other choices too much.
Then you have a pick of standard avatars so I picked girl next door and was thrown into the welcome center with all the other newbies. Ha ha taking my first steps, learning how to fly, collecting all the freebies I could find until I was attracted to a beam of green light. And I was teleported or thrown into SL proper. You quickly realize how you stick out like a sore thumb being in standard drab pink poker dot.
So I found a wonderful place called Levels and as you see I was no longer in pink!
Second Life
Okay who hasn't wished they could live their life over again knowing what they know now? I'm not talking time travel but a game called Second Life. Yes, did not make that up it's called Second Life in other words a game about a second chance to live your ultimate fantasy life. And no you pervs I'm talking about playing barbie with an avatar and making her live out situations with no strings attached...
Can you imagine walking into a bar or club seeing a cute guy and just striking up conversation without worrying about social stigmas? Oh yeah believe me this game gets addicting because no one sees you they just see the beautiful avatar. It's the ultimate masquerade and the best part is if the guy's a jerk you can just teleport somewhere else or literally fly away.
